Rhea Hawthorne wants to die — sort of.

After a failed suicide attempt, Rhea feels caught between life and death, unable to choose a path forward. But when she meets a kindred spirit in Audra Bronte, a beautiful yet troubled young woman, Rhea learns about a local cult where members can supposedly experience a “trial run” of death before coming back to life.

It is there that Rhea meets the Graverobber.

This is what they call the leader of the cult. He is the keeper of the secrets of death and resurrection, the one who performs the secret rituals for Rebirth and Reincarnation. Rhea is skeptical, unmoved by the faith of his followers, until she sees the miracle for herself. But only those chosen by the Graverobber can be reborn, and Audra is next in line — unless Rhea wins his favor first.

Against a backdrop of missing persons, dark magic, and cruel lies, Rhea and Audra are thrust into a competition for the Graverobber’s twisted love. But the further down they both descend, the more complicit in the cult’s crimes they become, until they must decide whether they will save each other’s souls, or be buried under their own grief.
